WHO
Our women's group is open to women seeking friendly group chat around menopause related issues. Group attendance is completely free of charge for eligible participants through our community programme, sponsored by the National Lottery Community Fund.
WHEN
Groups usually run twice a month on weekday evenings, 6.30pm-8pm.
WHERE
Valhalla, Keelby, Lincolnshire
At Valkyrie we don't believe any woman should be unsupported when they are facing difficulties relating to menopause or perimenopause. That's why we developed our 6 session menopause support programme.
Attendees on the programme will have chance to learn knife & axe throwing, before sitting down to refreshments and facilitated peer support. Whilst our sessions are loosely focused around common menopause symptoms, they also offer an opportunity for attendees to air any problems or worries they are facing and receive views, support and advice from the rest of the group in a safe and informal environment.
Individuals referred or signposted to Valkyrie are contacted by telephone or video call for an informal chat where they can explore what Valkyrie can offer and ask any questions about the programme.
Subject to suitability, they will be invited to join the next available session.
When groups meet it provides an opportunity to discuss problems we may have been experiencing and get support and advice from other group members.
The Women's Groups usually start with a fun session of axe & knife throwing before we sit down with hot drinks and biscuits for an informal chat about menopause topics and anything else which has been bothering us.
Group members share their experiences of what treatments, techniques or lifestyle changes have been helpful for them.
It is widely accepted that there is a therapeutic benefit to spending time in the outdoors.
Our Wilderness Wellbeing programme has been designed to fit with the concept of 'green' social prescribing, offering people the opportunity to gain the benefits of the outdoors, to socialise and share experiences and problems, and also to gain a sense of achievement by contributing to developing our facilities, maintaining the communal garden area, or developing their practical skills.
The Valkyrie Menopause Programme is also available for corporate bookings. If you are an employer with a group of 6-8 female staff who you feel could benefit from attending our programme please get in touch to discuss availability and rates.
Revenue from corporate and private services provided by Valkyrie supports the provision of our services to the wider community.
Acceptance Criteria and Requirements
Our Menopause Support Group is open to anyone experiencing perimenopause or menopause who wants to share their experiences with others. If you think you could benefit from attending our workshops, please contact us to discuss your needs with a member of our team.
Attendance is free of charge for anyone eligible through our community programme.
No alcohol or drug use is permitted at any of our activities, nor will anyone be allowed to participate if they are believed to be under the influence of substances.
We reserve the right to ask anyone to leave the programme at any time in line with this requirement.
Although participants are not required to attend every meeting/session, we do encourage regular attendance in order to develop and maintain bonds within the group.
Due to the small group size, we have found that it does not work well for us to accept people who are already know one another. We will therefore not accept existing friend groups joining together.
Please note that this is a single-sex service under the Equality Act 2010 (Part 7 - Separate, Single & Concessionary Services).
If appropriate, we signpost and support participants to access external services such as health counselling, therapy or training providers .
Thank you for contacting us.
We will get back to you as soon as possible
